Client wanted a wet bar with clean lines and modern proportions for their loft space. The bar top is made from reclaimed pine planks which I finished to a consistent thickness with a mechanical planer. The piece has storage shelving for glassware etc, beneath the bar.
The client had designs of her own for the finishing process and was thrilled with the blank canvas, so to speak, that I built for her!
These planks were found in the basement of the building and were grey and weathered and beat up before I planed them into shape!
A client with an extensive lamp collection needed custom shelving to clamp the fixtures to that would work with the dimensions of the rooms and the lamps.
I was hired to replace a rotted portion of a wooden deck on a balcony. This may seem like a small task, but if you are at a loss of how to fix it, can be a major problem. Call Tough Lady Builders! We can get it sorted.
I designed and constructed this privacy wall for a second floor deck, whose corner faced a series of windows and fire escapes. The client wanted to create a bit of privacy without losing light. One of the challenges was anchoring the frame; my solution was to tie the two-by-fours into the existing low masonry wall. Another challenge was the placement (on the deck) of an exhaust unit for the restaurant below the apartment, around which the walls had to wrap. We decided to cut out a window opening on that wall so the surface of the unit could be used as a hidden storage shelf, or a place to put a plant. See the results below.

Custom-built artist utility cabinet– built to to maximize use of a small space. It was requested by the client to be delivered unfinished; as an artist, she wanted to stain the piece herself.
